The places

In our mode of work, to be present and have presence has become gradually more important. The question, then, is, how much time is needed before these are reached. Already after the first summer at Strandgade, we considered the possibility of moving around the city in a steady rhythm of every half year. At the same time, Strandgade and the South Harbor also taught us that it most certainly demands a longer span of time to become part of a place – and come to care for it in one’s own way. Certain places have come to mean something special for us and have come to influence our practice more deeply than others. They are:

  • Strandgade (Christianshavn)
  • Sydhavnen (The South Harbor)
  • Hedehusene (a suburb in Western Copenhagen)
  • Amager (the island in the Eastarn part of Copenhagen)
  • Vesterbro (a historical, working-class neighborhood to the South-West of central Copenhagen).
